Who Is Purpleman
I am Purpleman, latest in a long line of purple people who have lived around the world since ancient times.
Born in York, England, in the Purple Ward of a local hospital during a Purple Full Moon and just after the 'Purple Tour de England' cycle race, my arrival was an un-usual medical occurance, infact it was widely reported in the purple press. I was born with purple skin but my colour faded completely by the time I was two years old.
My beautiful parents and all my ancestors were purple and so are my immediate and extended family who are scattered all around the world, from Purpleton in the USA to Purpville in New Zealand. At a rough estimate, I calculate I'm related to 6,387 other purple people. Our first ever family get together will be in 2012. Members who have signed in to be Purplies HERE will be invited to this event, to be held in the UK.
Before you get to know me it's important that you know my purple ancestry and where I came from. Some of my Purple Family were born purple while others become purple, aided by my immortal Great, Great, Great, Great (etc) Grandpappy OzBrush who is still alive today. You may have seen a cartoon image of him on this website. OzBrush lives in York, with me now, after decades wandering the earth painting happiness and joy into people’s lives. No-one knows when he was born but he claims to remember when Atlantis was above water! While most people in my Purple Family are humans, others are not, but they are all full of joy and purple happiness. When I say 'family' I mean purple animals, plants and flowers as well as everyday objects like toasters and electric toothbrushes! The joyful colour of happiness unites us as one purple family.
OzBrush is actually a 7 inch tall paintbrush, a much loved paintbrush. Without the clever and colourful painting done by OzBrush over the years and around the world, many in my Purple Family would have lost their colour, as I did. OzBrush travels around the world painting purple to make them happy because, according to ancient texts, the colour purple had great healing powers. Purple makes sad people happy, negative people positive and so on. I am proud to continue this tradition as I paint people purple and spread joy around.
Ozbrush lived in Australia and has a long purple didgeridoo. He told me that he worked with the Aboriginals doing some purple cave paintings way back before Men at Work came on the scene and Kylie hadn't even been invented. OzBrush has many children, all of them purple. He's modest but he has painted with Rolf Harris, been on TV with Dame Edna Leveridge and was most recently coaching at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. OzBrush is a qualified psychologist and can make anyone feel fantastically positive,m but first he paints them purple!
So, although OzBrush is based in York now, he still travels all around the world, often discreetly and without hardly any fuss, whizzing around the place on his aerodynamic bristles.
So, although I was born purple, my colour rapidly disappeared and my life became a colourless mess. During my travels overseas I had meaningful encounters with sacred Monks who taught me much, opening my heart to the meaning of life. In time, and by a series of remarkable synchronicities, OzBrush found me and came into my life without my immediate knowledge. I was guided to be purple without knowing why and, without forethought, I found myself stood in the middle of one of Europe’s busiest streets covered in funny make up standing still, meditating and in a state of relative bliss! But I kinda got the colour wrong at first – I was orange! Eventually though, OzBrush guided me to be purple so everything is alright now. What a beautiful moment that was, finally wearing the family colours. Suddenly, everything seemed right. As they say, I haven't looked back since! Whatever happened to Orangeman though!
So, wherever you are in the world, look out for purple people, purple animals and anything purple......let us know and I'll ask OzBrush if they are part of our family. There are other purple people doing amazing things in the world; chances are we are related but you can help track down the missing Purple Family for next year’s Purple Fest 2012. There are close on 5000 purple people we can't trace – if you are one, get in touch, send pics and we'll converse.
The Purpleman is, like OzBrush and the rest of the family, without fear, is totally non-violent and loves everyone before him, treating everyone with love. He gives joy, love and happiness to strangers all day long. In the course of his 10 year stationary public meditation, he's made an estimated 2 million people smile from the inside. I've also painted around 200,000 people purple – like a seed planted in their lives. One day, sooner rather than later, this purpleness will express itself in a beautiful way – art, music, love, inspiration and, more than likely, with a purple theme.....but maybe not as I bless people to the inside not just with paint!
So, info about the rest of the purple family will be revealed over time. The best solution is the Purple Family book which may be available soon.
So, I was born purple but the skin colour lasted a short time. Despite eventually appearing normal, I was always drawn to purple matters.....oh, and purple potatoes. We grew purple potatoes on the farm we lived on, near York. I love purple spuds and ate loads. I loved to wear purple clothes and confess to wearing ladies clothes in private because they were the only ones I could find in purple. As a six year old I had a strange vision that, one day, I'd be purple all over. Soon after this a visiting Uncle from Canada told me stories about Great Grandad OzBrush who had lived in Australia and who then went travelling worldwide. 'He's purple', said my Uncle, with a knowing wink! I love that story and asked it to be repeated many times.
I am, of course, anonymous because I am Purpleman. This is my name and nature. Purple, that's all you need to know!
I appear to be 'famous', but I'm only expressing the love and joy I feel inside, passing on my purple happiness to everyone who comes near.
Without OzBrush I wouldn't be here, but there is another famous member of the Purple Family and that's Bubbles my adorable doggie, plus her countless children. Check out her Facebook page HERE.
Bubbles recently had puppies to add to the 63 children she had already Most of these doggies live with me in my purple house. In addition to the children of Bubbles there are also many other purple animals in the house, belonging to other relatives. There are around 320 purple doggies, 240 purple cats, 21 purple panda, 6 purple giraffes, 356 purple teddy bears and......whooa, I've lost count.....just LOTS of purple animals!
Briefly, my house is purple and so is everything in it. I eat purple food, sleep in a purple bed and have purple toilet paper, etc, etc.
Of course, I am not the only Purpleman in the world and there are many others who love purple, but we’re are not all related. These others are NOT 'ozpurps', ie not direct descendants of the original OZBRUSH. The colour itself (and all derivatives) itself comes from a sacred pool of water in ancient Babylon, where OzBrushs dad came from! Research is still ongoing; we are even exploring the possibility that the original purplepeople came from another planet – it's all a purple mystery we may never know the answer to. All we know is that purple makes people happy and we love it.
Now that you know this you'll understand why I don't like the 'Performer' label in the slightest. To perform is to act, to be something you are not. Dudes, I am purple, I'm always purple and I'm carrying on an ancient family tradition of spreading purple happiness. That's neither acting nor performing; it's just doing the right thing!
